Structure-borne Sound – Phenomena and Prediction

چکیده

The prediction of the sound radiated by vibrating structures and the layout of measures to reduce it, is a key issue for maintaining appropriate comfort in residential buildings, for guaranteeing the operability of sensitive machinery in production and testing and for the provision of appropriate conditions at working places. For the prediction the excitation, the transmission and the radiation of structure-borne sound have to be discussed.

Prediction of airborne and structure borne sound transmission through hearing protectors using FEM

Individual hearing protection is a short term solution frequently used to protect workers against noise exposure. This work is part of a larger research program on the evaluation of real world attenuation of hearing protection devices (HPD) such as earplugs and earmuffs. Its objective is to develop a Finite Element (FE) model to predict both the airborne and structure borne sound transmission t...

Frequency Band Averaged Data for Prediction of Structure-borne Sound Power from Mechanical Installations in Buildings

Structure-borne sound transmission is a more complicated process than airborne sound transmission, but practitioners seek methods of prediction for the former, which are as straightforward as for the latter. In this paper a description is given of measurement and calculation procedures where the source activity (the velocity of the source when resiliently supported) and the mobility, and receiv...

Analytical vibroacoustic modeling of an elastic Rayleigh beam using Green's function

The purpose of this article is to provide an analytical model of the vibroacoustic for an elastic beam submerged in low subsonic flows with mean velocities. In general, vibroacoustic modeling refers to the combined effects of sound propagation and mechanical vibration of the structure. Sound radiations from submerged structures are coupled with physical phenomena because the sound pressures act...

Structure-Borne Sound and Aurally Active Spaces

ABSTRACT This paper provides a report of a research effort to transform architectural and scenographic surfaces into sound sources and use them in artistic creation. Structure-borne sound drivers are employed to induce sound into the solid surfaces, making them vibrate and emit sound. The sound waves can be perceived both via the aural (airborne diffusion) as well as the tactile (structure-born...

A study of coupled flexural-longitudinal wave motion in a periodic dual-beam structure with transverse connection.

A theoretical study of the multi-coupling flexural and longitudinal waves that propagate in a periodic dual-beam-type waveguide with structural connection branches is conducted. The analytical equations of the transfer matrix method are derived for the wave transmission with consideration given to the fully flexural and longitudinal motions that are tri-coupled at each connection. Based on this...
